Paint Protection Film in Egypt: The Complete PPF Guide
What paint protection film is, how its self-healing surface works, whether you need full body or front-end coverage, and exactly what happens to your car in our Cairo studio.

In this article
Anyone who drives in Cairo daily knows how quickly paint suffers: stone chips on the Ring Road, fine dust wiped off in a hurry, and a sun that bakes the car for months. Paint protection film in Egypt has gone from a supercar extra to a sensible choice for ordinary daily drivers, because it lets a clear film take that punishment instead of your factory paint. This guide covers how PPF works, who it suits, how we install it at our studio, and how to choose an installer you can trust.
What paint protection film actually is
PPF is a clear film applied over the painted panels of a car. It is not paint and it is not a polish or wax. It is a separate layer with real thickness that sits on top of the paint like armour. When a pebble flicks up from the car in front, the film takes the hit and the paint underneath stays as it left the factory.
Done properly, you do not see it. You see your own paint, in its original colour and gloss.
We are an authorised Layer+ dealer, so the film on your car comes from a known source with a written warranty behind it.
How the self-healing surface works
The film is self-healing. Light swirls and fine marks from washing or a careless brush disappear with heat, whether that is the afternoon sun or warm water. In practice the surface stays clean-looking for a long time without repeated polishing.
To be honest about the limits: self-healing is for light, surface-level marks. A heavy impact or a deep gouge can cut through any film. The point is that the damage happens to the film, not to your paint.
Why paint protection film in Egypt is worth it
Egyptian roads are hard on paint, and not only because of traffic:
- Stone chips: on the Ring Road and the desert highways, cars throw small stones at speed. The bonnet, front bumper and mirrors take them first.
- Dust: Cairo dust is fine and constant. Wiping it off dry leaves micro-scratches that build up over time.
- Sun: strong heat is tough on paint and makes bird droppings and tree sap bite in faster if they are left.
- Street parking: bags, passers-by, a tight squeeze between two cars.
Fixing paint after the fact means respraying and polishing, and sometimes a slight mismatch with the original shade. Film avoids that conversation entirely.

Full body PPF or front-end only?
This is the question we hear most. The right answer depends on your car and how you use it:
| Full Body PPF | Front-End PPF | |
|---|---|---|
| Coverage | Every painted panel: bonnet, wings, doors, boot, bumpers, mirrors | Full bonnet, front bumper, front wings, mirrors, headlights |
| Studio time | About 3 days | About 1 day |
| Written warranty | 10 years | 10 years |
| Best for | New cars you want to keep perfect, street parking, dark colours | Daily drivers and highway use where stone chips are the main worry |
Full Body PPF gives the whole car the same level of protection, which matters if you park on the street or drive a dark colour that shows everything. Front-End PPF covers the areas that take most of the hits on the road, and it is a smart choice for a car that spends a lot of time on the Ring Road.

How we install PPF at our studio, step by step
Good film is half the job. The other half is the installation. Here is what happens to your car with us:
- Deep wash: a full hand wash.
- Decontamination: iron and tar removal, so nothing bonded to the paint ends up trapped under the film.
- One-step paint correction: light scratches are polished out first, because the film is clear and anything underneath stays visible.
- Panel-by-panel installation: every panel gets its own piece, laid carefully onto the paint.
- Hand-wrapped edges: the film is wrapped around panel edges so it stays invisible and lasts longer.
- Final inspection under studio lighting: we go over the whole car before handover.
- Written warranty certificate: you leave with the warranty on paper.
Tip: if an installer skips paint preparation, the film will lock dust and swirls under it for years.
What if my car isn't new?
PPF is not only for new cars. A used car can be protected too, but we need to look at the paint under proper lighting first. A one-step correction removes light scratches and swirls; deeper scratches that go through to the paint, or areas with an old respray, need fixing first, because the film is clear and shows whatever is beneath it. That is why we inspect before booking: we tell you honestly what state the paint is in and what it needs before film goes on.
How long does PPF last?
Both Full Body and Front-End PPF come with a 10-year written warranty. How the film actually ages also depends on care, and on the installation itself: properly prepared paint and well-wrapped edges keep the film sitting flat without lifting at the corners.
How to choose a car protection studio in Cairo
Before you hand over your keys, ask:
- Which film is it, and are you an authorised dealer for it?
- Are the edges wrapped by hand or cut flush at the panel line? Wrapped edges look cleaner and last longer.
- Is the paint prepared first? Deep wash, decontamination and correction.
- What is the lighting like where the work is done? Good light reveals faults before handover.
- Is the warranty written? A verbal promise is not a warranty.
We have two studios: Maadi, on the Autostrad inside the Shell Out station in Saqr Quraish, and Mokattam, on the Middle Plateau behind the Wataniya station. You can see finished cars on our work page.
Aftercare basics for PPF
- Give the film the first few days before its first wash; we tell you exactly how long at handover.
- Hand wash with the two-bucket method and a pH-neutral shampoo.
- Avoid automatic brush car washes.
- Remove bird droppings and tree sap quickly, especially in summer.
- Keep a pressure washer nozzle away from the film edges.
If you notice anything odd, such as an edge starting to lift or a heavy knock on one panel, don't try to fix it yourself or pull at the film. Bring the car in and we will look at it; dealing with it early protects both the film and the paint beneath.

Book an inspection
Many owners go for the Complete Protection Package: front-end PPF, ceramic coating for the rest of the car and heat-rejecting window film, for less than booking each separately. If your car is brand new, our new car protection guide is worth a read too.

Frequently asked questions
Will PPF change the colour or gloss of my car?
No. The film is clear and keeps the original colour and gloss of your paint. Installed properly, with wrapped edges, you will not notice it is there.
How do scratches on the film disappear?
The film is self-healing: light swirls and surface marks fade with heat, such as sunshine or warm water. A heavy impact or a deep gouge can damage the film itself, but the paint underneath stays protected.
How long does a PPF installation take?
Full Body PPF takes about 3 days in the studio and Front-End PPF about 1 day. That includes the deep wash, decontamination, paint correction and the final inspection.
Should I do the full body or just the front?
If you drive a lot on the Ring Road and highways, the front end covers the panels that take most stone chips. If the car is new and you want all of it kept perfect, or you park on the street, full body makes more sense. Both carry a 10-year written warranty.
Can I take my car to any car wash after PPF?
Hand washing with a pH-neutral shampoo and two buckets is best. Avoid automatic brush washes and do not aim a pressure washer directly at the film edges.
