How to Protect a New Car in Cairo — Starting on Day One
Just collected your new car? The first weeks are the best time to protect it, before the first stone chip. The right order for PPF, ceramic coating and window film — and what to do in your first month on Cairo roads.

Congratulations on the new car. The best time to protect a new car is right at the start, because in its first weeks the paint is at its best: no wash swirls, no stone chips, and no Cairo summer baking into it yet. Every drive on the Ring Road or a highway without protection is a chance for that first chip on the bonnet. This guide covers the right order to do things, how to choose between the options, and how to treat the car during your first month.
Why the first weeks matter
Any protection you add locks in the condition of the paint at the moment it goes on. Fit PPF or a ceramic coating over clean, sound paint and that's what you keep. Wait a few months and you'll usually need more polishing and correction to remove wash marks and chips before the protection can go on.
There's another point people miss: a chip that takes paint off can't be polished away. Protection prevents chips; it doesn't undo them. That's why the front of the car comes first.
Inspect the car properly at delivery
Before you sign for the car, look at it in good light — daylight if possible:
- Paint: look for fine circular swirls from preparation and washing, and any small chips on the bonnet or bumper.
- Edges and doors: check door edges and the boot lid.
- Glass and headlights: any scratches or chips.
- Wheels: scuffs from transport.
If you can, ask the dealer not to give the car a quick wash before handover. A rushed wash with dirty towels is one of the most common causes of fine scratches on brand-new cars.

The right order to protect a new car
Not every service can go on in any order. This is the sequence we follow:
- Inspection and preparation — deep wash and decontamination, and polishing if the paint needs it.
- PPF — on the front end or the whole body, because the film goes directly onto the paint.
- Ceramic coating — on the remaining paint, for gloss and easier washing.
- Window film — on the glass, independent of the paintwork.
| Service | Protects against | Studio time | Written warranty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Front-end PPF | Stone chips and bug marks | About 1 day | 10 years |
| Full body PPF | Chips and light scratches on every panel | About 3 days | 10 years |
| Ceramic coating | Dust, water spots, hard washing | About 1 day | 3 years |
| Window film | Sun heat and UV | About 4 hours | 5 years |
Front-end PPF or full body?
Front-end PPF covers the full bonnet, front bumper, front wings, mirrors and headlights — the parts that take most of the hits. For most new cars used daily on the Ring Road and highways, it's the sensible starting point.

Full body PPF covers every painted panel: bonnet, wings, doors, boot, bumpers and mirrors. It makes sense if the car is valuable, the colour would be hard to match after a scratch, or you plan to keep it in factory condition for years. Light swirls on the film disappear with heat. Ceramic coating and window film
Ceramic coating is a 9H layer that gives a deep gloss; water beads off, dust struggles to stick, and washing gets quicker. Be clear about what it doesn't do, though: it won't stop stone chips. That's PPF's job.
In Cairo, window film isn't a luxury. It rejects sun heat and blocks the UV that fades seats and dashboards. We choose the shade with you on the car, within the levels permitted for road use — very dark film (فاميه) is a traffic violation in Egypt. More detail in our heat-rejecting window film guide.
Your first month on Cairo roads
- Washing: by hand, two buckets, pH-neutral shampoo and microfibre. Skip automatic brush washes.
- After protection: don't wash the car for the first days after ceramic or film, and don't lower tinted windows for the first days. We'll tell you exactly how long when you collect the car.
- Parking: shade or a garage where possible, and away from trees that drop sap.
- Sun: never wash in the midday heat with hot panels.
- Dust: don't wipe dry dust with a dry cloth — it's the quickest way to scratch. Rinse first.
- Bird droppings: remove them the same day.
The New Car Package and the Complete Protection Package
To make the choice simpler, we put together two packages for exactly this situation, priced lower than booking each service separately:
- New Car Package: ceramic coating and window film. A good start if most of your driving is in the city.
- Complete Protection Package: front-end PPF, ceramic coating and window film. The better fit if you spend a lot of time on the Ring Road and highways.
Current prices are on our packages page.
Common new-car mistakes
- Waiting until the car has "settled in": there's nothing to gain. Paint doesn't improve with time — every week adds the chance of a scratch or chip that has to be dealt with before protection.
- Relying on wax or quick-shine sprays: they look good for a few days, but they don't protect against stone chips or a Cairo summer.
- Using any roadside car wash: towels used on car after car pick up sand and grit, which is exactly what causes the circular swirls you see in the sun.
- Going very dark on the tint for the heat: darker doesn't mean cooler. Good heat-rejecting film works at a shade within the permitted levels, without the risk of a fine.
- Thinking protection means no more washing: it makes washing easier and reduces scratching, but the car still needs regular, careful washing to stay looking the way it does on day one.
A quick checklist before you book
- Did you inspect the paint at delivery in good light?
- Front-end PPF or full body?
- Ceramic for the rest of the paint?
- Window film shade within the permitted levels?
- Booked before your first long highway drive?
Protect it before the first chip

Frequently asked questions
How soon after delivery should I protect a new car?
As soon as you reasonably can — ideally before your first long highway drives. Protection locks in the condition of the paint when it is applied, so doing it while the paint is still clean saves polishing and correction work.
Should PPF go on before ceramic coating?
Yes. PPF goes directly onto the paint first, then ceramic coating on the remaining paint. Window film goes on the glass and doesn't affect the order of the paintwork.
Is ceramic coating alone enough for a new car?
Ceramic gives gloss, makes washing easier and helps dust slide off, but it doesn't stop stone chips. If you drive a lot on the Ring Road and highways, front-end PPF is what protects against chips.
What is the difference between the New Car Package and the Complete Protection Package?
The New Car Package includes ceramic coating and window film. The Complete Protection Package adds front-end PPF against stone chips. Both cost less than booking the services separately; current prices are on the packages page.
Can I wash the car straight after protection?
No. Don't wash the car for the first days after ceramic coating or film, and don't lower tinted windows for the first days after window film. We'll tell you the right period for your car at handover.
